Washington Redskins @ Miami Dolphins - Individual Player Review
OFFENSE
Rex Grossman
**1st throw, 2nd series, good pass pro and intermediate slant to Hank Time left to right for 18, plus PF on late hit Rex.
**Hits Hank on skinny post, on 1st down, + 12. Next play, PA fake to Fred Davis on drag route. +16.
**Has Read 1 and 2 open left, middle and checks down to DY on 2nd/3 who is hit for a loss of yards, minus 3.
**3rd/6 high throw and behind back shoulder to Anderson INC, to force FG. DA was open, and Kyle says should have cuaght it...but very difficult catch.
**Great anticipation on throws, throwing to spot and leading WR's for most part cleanly. Back to back square outs on opposite sides to Hank and Gaffney.
**On 1st/Goal from MIA-9, does bad job scanning field, misses 2 open targets - Torain on swing right, Jabar back to left - pump fakes middle once, and dumps down to Davis, who was blanketed for a 6 yard loss...AWFUL**
**3rd/Goal/6 - Locks in on first read/target a back corner fade to Fred Davis who was never open, and did catch ball but well OOB. Only chance to make play was if defender fell down. Hankerson was wide open on short drag route on goal line.
**Throws behind Gaffney, on 2nd down, open, sliding down.
***Gets away with Intentional grounding on 2nd/10 to Anderson. Was in area, but pretty far off ball and target. Threw flag, picked it up.
**Rex Shotgun on very next snap, 5 step drop and big bounce. Throws rocket a little high to open Hankerson at 10 (30 yards in air) for 22 yard pick up. Good pickup by Helu in pass pro.
*Very next play, the INT to Dansby inside 10. Jabar runs a quick slant, is wide open dragging up the field, decides to cut it up and behind Dansby, Rex doesn't see JG or doesnt' throw, but is locked in -- then fires the ball trying to thread needle with Dansby right in front. Kyle says it was good decision/read.
**2nd pass on final series that pass is knocked down. 2nd one, by Dansby on backwards roll, up in face. BAD. Dansby initially engaged with Helu but rips off as Rex drifts to that side.
Ryan Torain
**+ 5 on first carry off left tackle, good push and seal by Fred Davis.
**Takes jab step on 1st down carry after Barnes turnover. Gets 3 on carry. 2nd down runs into brick wall and gets 1.
**3rd/Goal/1 - touchdown run around left end, with 2 TE right (45,83) and (82) left, and FB -I form. Logan Paulsen clear holding wipes out touchdown on Jeremiah Bell.
**Ryan misses enormous cutback lane and seal by Locklear and cut by Fred Davis.
**Torain + 5 straight ahead. Great downhill burst. Next carry, runs into a wall. Trent knocked down.
Roy Helu
**Goes into swing pattern to right vs. 6 man pressure, free blitzer runs untouched through Chester/Locklear for sack.
**Helu blown up by Vontae Davis in space on delayed dump off left on 3rd and Goal.
**Good pass pro on 3rd/6 1st down completion.
**10 yard gain up middle on first down, with windmill pump by Rex to hold safeties in spread.
**+ 4 off left side on 1st, 2nd/6 drop, fake throw, draw for + 3, 3rd/3 **Inside handoff, great cut to avoid being blown up behind LOS and fight for yardage to get first down off right side. Cut back to left, and slithered forward. Great effort.
**Good pass pro pickup on HankTime 22 yard catch to MIA-10.
**Really nice blitz pickup on 18 yard pass to Fred Davis on 1st down. (20-9).
**Catches swing pass at 5:25 mark on 1st down, could have gone OOB to save time, tries to cut back 2nd week in a row he did that.
**Screen right for 6, fights for extra yards.
Jabar Gaffney
**Runs a spray right side with Hank on criss cross outside release for 21 yard gain to MIA-27 on 1st down, after big play to Hank.
***Nice square out anticipation route on 3rd/6 for 1st down inside 10, for 11 yards.
**4th catch on out route to right. Good break and cut for 6 yards.
**3rd/4 Jeremiah Bell clearly bumps illegal contact 10 yards down field on INC targeted. Flag comes in, they pick it up and say no foul *** (13-9 game)
Leonard Hankerson
**Good quick cross in cut, on blitz (Rex, hot opposide side) on 2nd down.
**Slips out of break vs. Vontae Davis, for INT by Rex as drive is on Miami side of field.
**Excellent square out route for 10 yards. Not able to be defended.
**Great pivot route and working way to get open underneath to MIA-5 on 2nd/Goal/15.
**Square out + 17 on 1st down over Fred, who was running same route under.
**Converts on 3rd/4 for first down over middle + 9 on play that ends his season.
Logan Paulsen
**Holding call on DB Jeremiah Bell wipes out a 3 yard TD run on 3rd/Goal/3 by Torain.
**Nice strike over middle, outstretched and twist.
David Anderson
**+ 14 on 3rd and 6, from Rex. Good anchor by Trent, vs Taylor. Rex hit but harmless.
Fred Davis
**INC on TE Staple PA boot right throwback, with clear out from WR's. In hands at knees, rolls over and drops. Ball was not underthrown. Play works every time. Tight window, right in the numbers.
**Very good block on ILB on Helu 10 yard run, Getting straight to Burnett.
**+18 from Rex over middle on first down.
Offensive Line
**1st sack, 3rd down, 1st series. Dolphins overload RT/RG with 3 and Dansby runs free.
**2nd Torain carry of game, run blitzer runs untouched between Locklear/Logan to stop Torain for negative yards.
**Maurice Hurt gets blown up on 3rd/2 at MIA-20 by Jared Odrick.
**Trent Williams takes holding penalty on outside stretch left 1st down, on 2nd/6 by Torain. Tough call, defender goes down to ground, looked he was thrown to ground.
**Sean Locklear takes holding call, which nullifies Personal foul on Olshansky for rough the passer. Penalties offset, but in SF game, Trent's personal foul 15 yards did not get offset by a SF penalty, defensive offside.
**Maurice Hurt beaten by Jason Taylor for 7 yard sack on inside swim move.
**Next play, allow gangbuster blitz on 7 man rush sack on 3rd down, but negated by offsides penalty.
Team Offense
**Have to call timeout after mis-spot of ball at 12 (should be 10.5) after Logan Paulsen hold. Shanny pissed.
