Predicting the Washington Redskins 53-man roster before June 1st hits, can be a dangerous game of media Russian roulette.
With that said, it's always fun to kick around some ideas before we actually see one training camp practice, before a very key date passes (June 1st, this Friday for cap purposes), and before we really have a clue.
So with that being said, away we go. I could have been more 'controversial' with some of the potential names, but where it was too close to call - I erred on the side of caution. If I am wrong, I am sure I will be reminded constantly. If I am right, nobody will remember anything. I am also intentionally avoiding major controversy with one name that you can probably figure out, that many in the media, including myself have discussed.
Here's the bottom line with that, Chris Cooley's best fit and most natural fit is here in Washington. If he is willing (6.2 cap figure, current) to take a major reduction in pay, and if his knee holds up over the next 3 weeks along with a month plus of training camp -- he'll be here. If not, it might be the end of an era. For now, he's on the team.
